WORKSHOP TITLE:
“2019 CLTA-TEXAS 4-Day OPI Assessment Workshop- Chinese”
PURPOSE:
2019 CLTA-TEXAS 4-Day OPI Assessment Workshop – Chinese enriches K-16 Chinese educators to educate and/or improve Oral Proficiency Interview (OPI) techniques for applying to classroom instruction and to improve student oral proficiency skills.
This four-day workshop introduces the ACTFL rating scale, the structure of the Oral Proficiency Interview (OPI) and techniques of administering and rating the OPI, including its applications in the language classroom.
Participants observe and conduct live practice interviews across all proficiency levels (Novice through Superior). Participation in a Full OPI Assessment Workshop is the first step toward becoming an ACTFL Certified OPI Tester with Full Certification.
The OPI workshop can be conducted in the target language of choice or in English for a mixed-language group.

WORKSHOP CANCELLATION POLICY:
All cancellations are subject to a $100.00 processing fee unless made within forty-eight hours of initial payment. Any cancellation made within four weeks of the start of the workshop (July 8, 2019) will be subject to complete forfeiture of registration fee. All efforts will be made to find a substitute participant, in which case a total refund will be issued.
All cancellations must be made via email: cltatx@gmail.com.
* In an effort to conserve natural and financial resources, we will transition to digital materials for all attendees (via emails) unless materials are provided by ACTFL.
* Due to ACTFL requirements of needing 10 students (in different levels) to participate in the workshop, you (the attendee) need to provide one of your own students for your OPI workshop. After you register, you will be assigned a level of student to bring.
* If you cannot find any students, please let us know one month in advance prior to the workshop date – by July 5, 2019, so we can help you to find a student.

REIMBURSEMENT/SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITY:
* CLTA-TEXAS is working on a reimbursement/scholarship opportunity for the attending teachers (in the case of the registration fee paid by an individual, NOT by school/institute);
* Qualifying attending teachers (as noted above) will be given reimbursement/scholarship upon completion of the 4 Days OPI workshop and after having given an OPI presentation at the upcoming CLTA-TEXAS workshop – by December 31, 2020.
* Amount : TBA…will be determined after the 4 Days OPI Workshop.
* An email regarding the reimbursement opportunity will be sent to the 10 attending teachers ONLY.
