Call for Proposals
Purpose:
CLTA-TEXAS Teacher Grants support the professional development of K-16 teachers to improve classroom instruction and student engagement.
Applicant Eligibility:
1. According to CLTA-TEXAS Bylaws, applicants must be a paid member.
2. The applicant must have been a paid member (individual) for at least 12 months before the announcement date today, October 16, 2021.
This means the nominee has paid the 2020-2021 membership fee (individual) before October 16, 2020, and has paid 2021-2022 membership fee before October 16, 2021.
3. The applicant must be a paid member (individual) for the upcoming year and pay the 2022-2023 membership fee before July 1, 2022 (before releasing the fund).
4. The applicant must be a current Full-Time Chinese language educator (K-16) that has formally affiliated with CLTA-TEXAS are eligible to apply (please check #2 & #3 for membership requirements).
Amount:
The 2021 CLTA-TEXAS Teacher Grants amount is up to US$300 for the proposal you submitted.
Application Deadline:
Applications may be submitted by November 22, 2021, 11:59pm.
Awardees will be notified by December 10, 2021.
Application Guidelines:
Applicants need to submit a proposal of approximately 300 words (in English and/or Chinese) which includes the following:
1. Introduction of yourself (including current employment and a short essay describing how the proposed professional development will benefit you personally and professionally).
2. A detailed description of the professional development workshop/conference that you are attending. 3. An explanation of the need for attending the professional development workshop/conference. 4. Expected outcomes (what do you want to learn/gain from the professional development workshop/conference
and the potential impact to the community you will bring back from the professional development workshop/conference, etc.).
5. Any prior experience being the speaker at any professional development workshops/conferences. 6. A line-item budget for the proposed professional development workshop/conference.
7. Recommendation letters from your supervisors (LOTE director, principal, and department chair). Your supervisors will be contacted to confirm the recommendation.
8. Provide your supervisors’ names and contact information (LOTE director, principal, and department chair). Your supervisors will be CC’d if you are the Grant Winner.
9. If applicable, provide the year you were awarded and your presentation information in the CLTA-TEXAS annual conference, if you were the winner of any previous Teacher Grants..
Requirements:
The CLTA-TEXAS Teacher Grants winner must:
1. Complete the proposed professional development workshop/conference (by June 30, 2022), and 2. Within one month after the conclusion of the proposed activities, submit an activity report with evidence (of the professional development workshop/conference you attended), such as:
a. Application form of the professional development workshop/conference you attended, b. The handout of the professional development workshop/conference you attended
c. The original meal receipts (paper form),
d. The original hotel receipts (paper form),
3. Make a presentation at the upcoming 2022 CLTA-TEXAS Annual Conference in which you share what you learned at the workshop/conference that you attended thanks to the Grant.
(Topic has to be about the workshop/conference that you attended, and what you have learned from the workshop, and/or how you applied what you learned in your own classroom, etc.)
(* Winner will receive a check for the awarded amount after fulfilling the required presentation.)
Please note:
* All receipts should be in their original paper form. No digital receipts will be accepted. * Airfare will NOT be covered/accepted by CLTA-TEXAS Teacher Grants.
Limitation:
1. Previous Teacher Grants winners will not be eligible to apply for a period of THREE (3) years. (Winners from 2019 and 2020 may not apply for 2021 Teacher Grants.)
2. One applicant can only apply for one grant in the same year (for example: one teacher/organization can only apply for either Teacher Grants or Local Workshop Grants, not both.
